Lunch today with Blues Man, Andrew Duncanson at Dos Reales. If the last name looks familiar it is because Andy is the husband of a previous It's My Treat participant, Lillie Duncanson. I've know both of them for a long time, but today it was Andy's turn for lunch.

He contacted me a couple of days ago saying that he wanted to talk about his website. I sometimes put together simple websites for people I like and AndrewDuncanson.com was one that I built for him a year or so ago. Great site to visit if you want to find out more about his music and see some amazing photos. (That is me joking arrogance because I am the one who took them. Ha.) But more important that website updates that you will probably see in the next few months it was great to just catch up with Andy and enjoy some good food.

Dos is a great place, great food as always. If you want some good Mexican food in town this is my favorite place.

A couple of weeks ago Andy's band Kilborn Alley recorded a live set at the Rose Bowl in Urbana. Not sure when that will come out, but I am always happy to hear some new music from the band. They are always fun to listen to live and it sounds like it was a fun night.

I also let him know about the new album that I am working on. It is called "Other Than That". I can't play an instrument, write a song, or sing anything, but other than that, I think it is going to be great. Also looking forward to a solo album coming out soon. I've heard some of it and it is wonderful. Not sure if I have the final mixes, but what I listened to sounds great. Be sure to check it out when it debuts (or drops as the youngsters call it).

He has been working with a guy out of California on the project named Michael Peloquin. Turns out Michael recently moved back into town and was in the area so he dropped in and joined us for our meal. Well, at least joined us for the discussion, not so much the meal because he had already eaten lunch -- twice -- before he arrived. The two of them are doing a WEFT Sessions in a couple of weeks. If you don't know about that show, it is a local music show on WEFT FM that brings bands in for live sessions every Monday. www.facebook.com/weftsessions What a great resource to have in the area.

Speaking of great resources, the conversation with Andy did turn to the recent loss of Mark Rubel. Kilborn recorded their first album at Pogo Studios and Andy got to know Mark. Such a nice guy. I might do a separate post just on Mark Rubel because his name has come up a few times in the It's My Treat conversations and he made a big impact in the lives of many in the area.

Thanks for a good meal, Andy, and it was good to meet you Michael. Looking forward to all the good music coming soon.
